Miss Universe Organization Reaffirms Ownership Amid Acquisition Rumors
The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has released an official statement clarifying its ownership and leadership structure following circulating claims about a possible sale of the pageant.
In a post shared across its official social media platforms, the MUO addressed what it described as “false and misleading statements” suggesting that the organization is open to acquisition or purchase. The organization emphasized that it remains under its current ownership and leadership, and added that it is working closely with legal advisers to determine appropriate actions against any “false, misleading, or unauthorized statements or activities.”
MUO also urged the public, its partners, and members of the media to rely solely on information released through its verified social media accounts and official website, missuniverse.com.
The clarification follows comments made by former governor and businessman Chavit Singson, who previously told GMA Lifestyle that he was planning to meet with MUO representatives to discuss the possibility of buying the organization.
Speculation surrounding a potential sale intensified after this year’s controversial Miss Universe pageant, where Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch, claimed the crown amid allegations of fraud and favoritism. Further controversy arose with reports of legal issues involving the organization’s current president, Raul Rocha, who faces multiple accusations currently under investigation.
Despite the global controversy, the Philippines’ representative, Ahtisa Manalo, concluded her Miss Universe journey as third runner-up and was recently honored with two homecoming parades in recognition of her achievement.
The Miss Universe Organization has not announced any changes to its leadership or ownership and maintains that all official updates will be communicated exclusively through its authorized channels.
